Speaker Bio
Juanita Bocquel is an Assistant Professor of Physics at Université de Sherbrooke, where she joined the Département de physique and the Institut quantique in autumn 2025. Her research focuses on the optoelectronic investigation of nanoscale quantum devices based on spin defects in semiconductors, enabling both local and scanning probe quantum sensing approaches.
She obtained her PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology and subsequently held postdoctoral positions in Australia, Denmark, and Switzerland. Most recently, at the University of Basel, she carried out low-temperature photophysics studies of single Nitrogen-Vacancy centers in diamond and developed advanced instrumentation for quantum sensing at ultra-low temperatures.
