Daniel Oblak is Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy, a member of the Institute for Quantum Science and Technology at the University of Calgary, Quantum City Fellow, and director of the NSERC CREATE training program iQuCode. He obtained his PhD in Physics from the Niels Bohr Institute in Copenhagen and joined the University of Calgary in 2010 as a postdoctoral associate. His research expertise is in experimental implementation of and components for quantum networks, such as terrestrial fiber-optic and satellite free-space links and quantum light-matter interfaces for quantum memory and wavelength transduction. His work includes demonstration of quantum protocols, e.g., QKD and teleportation, over deployed fibres in collaboration with the City of Calgary. Based on his group’s research he co-founded Quantized Technologies Inc., a startup in quantum key distribution and network technology.
