Dr. Shohini Ghose is a quantum physicist, author, and Chief Technology Officer at Canada’s Quantum Algorithms Institute. A Professor and NSERC Chair for Women in Science and Engineering at Wilfrid Laurier University, her research explores foundational aspects of quantum science as well as applications in cybersecurity, healthcare or finance. She serves on the Advisory Council for Canada’s National Quantum Strategy, and was a member of the Advisory Board of UNESCO’s International Basic Sciences Program. A TED Senior Fellow and award-winning communicator, her talks and videos have received over 10 million views online. Dr. Ghose is also a recognized leader in equity and inclusion in STEM and author of Her Space, Her Time, winner of the 2023 Science Writers and Communicators of Canada Award. She was elected to the College of the Royal Society of Canada in 2017 and is a past President and Fellow of the Canadian Association of Physicists. Asteroid 8913 Shohinighose bears her name.
